Antique Victorian Sterling Silver & Glass Claret Jug - 1868

An antique Victorian sterling silver and glass claret jug which has a plain ovoid shaped glass body, a pretty silver mount with leaf decoration and a hinged lid with an acorn finial. The spout has been styled with Cherub figures with a Bacchus head motif below which completes this unusual design. It would be practical to use and would hold a full bottle of wine. The glass body has been renewed over time in keeping with the original style and remains in excellent condition.

Diameter of base: 11 cms (4.3'')
It was hallmarked in Sheffield for 1868 by Martin Hall.
