19th C London Maker Mahogany Barometer

Description

An Early 19th Century Mahogany Stick Barometer.

The barometer of bow fronted shape, the swan neck pediment surrounding a classical vase finial, above a concave moulding, and thence the bow glazed from of the silvered dial, with barometric pressure indices to one side and weather indication to the other, complete with sliding cursor.

The dial engraved for the maker 'J CRAWLEY, LONDON'.

The body with well figured mahogany, holding the rotating cursor knob and thence the bow fronted glazed casing of the silvered thermometer, engraved for temperature to one side and temperature indication to the other (being Freezing, Temperate Heat, Summer Heat, and Fever Heat). The body broadening to a rounded cistern cover, and finished with a reservoir key.

Depth 2 1/4 inches, 6cm.
