Antique English Fruitwood Playing Card Box C.1910

Description

A lovely Edwardian card box made from a stunning piece of Fruitwood (apple, pear of similar) with beautiful marking, a warm toffee colour only coming from age and a good bright and shiny finish.

The lid lifts to reveal two sets of (complete) playing cards, two tiny wooden dice, a Goodhall's Bezique marker and a Goodhall's Bridge Handbook stamped on the back "Williams & Co / Paris", perhaps imported to France for the British on their Grand Tour.

Super box, in excellent condition, measuring 5 3/4" x 4 1/4" x 1 3/8" thick.
