Outstanding French Louis XVI Gilt Mirror

This is a most beautiful French Louis XVI style Giltwood & Gesso Mirror in superb original condition with a fabulous water gilding. The mirror has great form, with six separate marginal mirrors mounted in the egg and dart moulded frame around the large central plate. The central crest has wonderful detail with a grand urn issuing flowers and two rams heads to the sides of the urn. The mirror gilding is in exceptional original condition with the most attractive antique patina and the mirror plates are also the original glass which is all in excellent clean condition.
 
This is a fine Overmantel or grand size for floor or wall mounting measuring 185 cms by 107 cms wide.
 
This is a very fine example and has the date of manufacture inset to the reverse of the crest, 1886.
