Fabulous Antique Novelty French Oak Dog & Kennel Cigar Box C.1880

Description

Always highly desirable, this late Victorian cigar box dates to around 1880 and French in origin. Made from solid golden Oak and having been professionally re-polished, the kennel houses a cheeky looking mutt made from polished white metal, no doubt spelter and retaining his two original glass eyes.

The entrance to the kennel is mounted with polished brass complimenting the brass chain. The box contains it's original removable caddy which would have contained cigars or smaller cheroots.

Complete with working lock and key, the box is in superb condition. The plinth measures 7 1/4" x 6 1/8" and stands 5 1/2" tall.
