Victorian Pearl and 0.13ct Emerald, 0.20ct Amethyst and 15ct Yellow Gold Dress Ring

19th century
For Sale by AC Silver
Description

An impressive Victorian seed pearl and 0.13 carat emerald, 0.20 carat amethyst and 15 carat yellow gold dress ring; part of our diverse Victorian jewellery collections.

This fine and impressive antique Victorian ring has been crafted in 15ct yellow gold.

The intricate pierced decorated setting is ornamented with a row of four cushion cut amethysts, displayed above a row of four 2mm seed pearls, all individually four claw set.

Five graduated four claw set cushion cut emeralds embellish the space between the amethysts and pearls.

The subtly elevated, flared ring shoulders are embellished with a sharp chased decoration, as are the sides of the setting and shank.

The ring is hallmarked to the interior of the shank with the maker's mark, the 15ct gold fineness mark (15.625), the Birmingham Assay Office hallmark (anchor) and the date letter for 1870 (V).

This antique Victorian dress ring is supplied with an IDGL diamond grading report card.

'Rather than regarding inclusions in coloured stones as harmful, in small sizes and numbers that do not in any way detract from their beauty, they should be regarded as adding to desirability, for they provide identifying characteristics.'

Images do not always reflect the true colour and brilliance of gemstones and diamonds. The video however provides a truer representation of the actual colour and showcases each stone.

Condition

This impressive antique gemstone ring is fine quality set with amethysts, emeralds and seed pearls.

The ring is a very good gauge of gold and is in excellent condition with clear hallmarks to the interior of the shank.

Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this fine example of antique jewellery/estate jewelry.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian dress rings often feature detailed gold work, carved scrollwork shoulders, and vibrant combinations of gemstones and seed pearls set in multi-stone tiered configurations.

Victorian jewellers frequently utilised 15ct yellow gold alongside natural gemstones such as emeralds, amethysts, rubies, and pearls, often secured using claw settings.

Authentic Victorian pieces typically display period hallmark stamps indicating gold purity, such as 15ct (625), along with characteristic hand-carved scroll detailing along the shoulders and band.

Victorian gemstone rings can be worn individually as a focal statement piece or stacked with understated modern bands to highlight their detailed gold work.

To preserve antique jewellery containing pearls and soft gemstones, avoid exposure to water, harsh chemicals, or ultrasonic cleaners, and clean gently using a soft dry cloth.
