Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Famille Verte refers to Chinese porcelain decorated predominantly with green overglaze enamels, a style developed during the Kangxi period and produced through the 19th century. These porcelain vases were frequently converted into table lamps during the late 19th and early 20th centuries for European and American residences.

These lamps consist of a hard-paste ceramic vase decorated with polychrome enamels, mounted onto a cast brass or bronze collar and stepped wooden or brass base. They are topped with a wired socket assembly and a fabric lampshade, often constructed from silk or cotton.

Authentic pieces feature translucent green, yellow, iron-red, and aubergine overglaze enamels applied by hand over a white glaze. Look for slight irregularities in the hand-painted decoration, wear on the metal mounts, and drilling or fittings consistent with historical lamp conversions.

A porcelain vase lamp serves as a focal point on a mahogany sideboard, console table, or bedside chest. The combination of intricate brushwork and structured shade complements both traditional English Country decor and minimalist contemporary spaces requiring textural contrast.

Dust the porcelain base gently with a dry, soft microfibre cloth, avoiding harsh liquid cleaners that could damage the overglaze enamel. Ensure the electrical cord and socket are periodically inspected by a qualified electrician to maintain safety standards.
