A lovely quality pair of Victorian dessert serving spoons with scallop shell shaped bowl and ornate cast stems mounted with an apostle, well detailed all around. Set in their original black leather fitted case from the retailers Howell & James Ltd of Regent Street (Goldsmiths to Queen Victoria), the interior is a feature of it''s own in raspberry pink ruched silk and velvet with an unusual intricate gadrooned type effect in silk edging the latter. Gilt stringing to a tooled band around the top of the case finishes it off.
Hallmarked for Sheffield 1876, makers Richard Martin & Ebeneezer Hall (Martin, Hall & Co.).
The spoons measure 20.2cm (8'') long and 6cm (2 5/16'') wide and weigh 166g / 5.3ozt.
In excellent condition with no damage or repair and minimal handling wear. The case is also in very good condition with just a few minor signs of age to the outside and a bit faded to the underside. The inside is immaculate.
