Rare French Oeufrier C1800s

Description

A rare survivor and collectors item. This toleware french oeufrier is cleverly hand painted to look like wood with an overlaid floral decoration. Also with swan handles and lion paw feet.

It would have held hot water with eggs in the interior basket, prepared in the kitchen the eggs would be soft boiled and ready to eat when it reached the breakfast table.

Showing signs of wear as you would expect for its age, it is still an attractive example of fine dining french history.
