Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A stick stool is a simple form of vernacular seating where turned or shaped wooden legs are mortised directly into a solid timber seat slab. Popular throughout rural Britain in the 18th and 19th centuries, these functional items served as utility seating in farmhouses and cottages.

These stools were typically crafted from native hardwoods such as walnut, oak, elm, or ash. Construction relied on green woodworking techniques, wedge-tenon joints, and pegged cleat supports under the seat without complex cabinetmaking joinery.

Authentic period examples feature hand-shaved or hand-turned legs showing subtle irregularities, wedged mortise-and-tenon joints visible on the seat top, natural shrinkage of the timber around joints, and surface wear consistent with age.

A rustic stick stool functions effectively as a low side table beside a sofa, a elevated stand for indoor plants, or an accent piece within a hearth alcove. Its minimalist form bridges traditional and modern Scandinavian or rustic aesthetic schemes.

Maintain the wood finish by dusting with a dry microfibre cloth and applying a neutral beeswax polish periodically. Keep the piece away from direct heat sources and excessive moisture to prevent warping or splitting of the timber.
