Mid C19th brass-bound mahogany military officer’s campaign chest of drawers.
 
Two-part brass-bound mahogany military campaign chest of drawers raised on original turned feet . The top section fitted with 3 short drawers across the top above a full-length long drawer below , the base section fitted two long drawers , all fitted with heavy quality inset oblong recessed brass handles . The drawers all with ash linings and all fitted with original brass locks and escutcheons , each stamped “Lever Lock” together with a crowned cypher “VR” ( Victoria Regina) stamped mark .
 
The corners all with protective brass bindings. Constructed in the traditional way of two sections for ease of transport , fitting together on locating dowels .
 
In excellent original condition with a rich colour and patina . Minor historic marks and dents commensurate with age, use and purpose .
 
A well-constructed chest of practical scale and proportions offering capacious storage and possessing an evocative style and history .
