ANTIQUE NUMBER SA1052067: A 1960s Silver Menu Holder Or Place Setting Presented To H.M.S. Kent - D12

A 1960s Silver Menu Holder Or Place Setting Presented To H.M.S. Kent - D12

£165    $211    €191
This is a silver menu holder made by J.B. Chatterley and Sons, Birmingham and assayed in 1967. Of circular form, it bears a beautifully cast image of Invicta, (invincible) rampant, the emblem of the County of Kent. This, almost certainly, forms part of a rare set of menu holders, which were presented to officers aboard H.M.S. Kent by the Association of Men of Kent and Kentish Men. A statement, confirming the presentation, is engraved on the reverse.

H.M.S. Kent D12, was a County Class Destroyer, built by Harland & Wolff, Belfast. It was launched by Princess Marina, Duchess of Kent, on the 27th September 1961 and decommissioned in1980. Kent spent much of her service escorting the Royal Navy's aircraft carrier fleet.

This highly collectable menu holder is a heavy quality piece and, with no damage, losses or repairs, it is in very good antique condition, with minor signs of use only.
