Here is a really super still life oil painting on board of Clematis in a glass vase by the artist Bunty Miller, signed, dated 1950 and presented in an ornate gilded frame.
Bunty Miller was a self taught artist who exhibited every year for nearly thirty years at the Royal Academy''s Summer Exhibition.
The flowers really stand out brightly against the moss green background, and have the freshness as if they were only just picked, their stems refracting in the light passing through the glass of the vase, and in a rather nice touch, Bunty has also added her monogram to the vase.
This painting measures 45.5 cm by 37 cm framed, and 35.5 cm by 27.5 cm for the actual painting and is in good condition. There is the surface wear on the frame to be expected with a painting on this age, and as I hope the photographs show, it displays beautifully.
As a piece of extra information that I came across whilst researching the picture, there is a name and address written on the back ( RA Somervell ) who I believe to be a Silversmith and the son of celebrated composer Sir Arthur Somervell of Westmoreland - the address being one of a house in Haverbrack Cumbria.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if I can provide any further information or photographs.
I offer free delivery across mainland UK, and am very happy to help with quotes for postage abroad.
