Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French silversmiths in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries perfected the art of electroplating, creating high-quality silver-plated tableware and barware for hotels, restaurants, and private residences. Houses such as Ercuis established reputations for producing durable, elegant vessels designed specifically to maintain bottle temperatures during dining.

Traditional wine coolers are constructed from base metals such as brass, copper, or nickel silver, which are then electroplated with a layer of pure silver. Higher-end mid-century examples feature heavy plating and cast metallic handles attached with reinforced soldering.

Authentic pieces carry manufacturer hallmarks and maker marks stamped directly into the metal, usually near the rim or on the underside of the base. Look for manufacturer names like Ercuis, alongside silver weight stamps or maker symbols in geometric cartouches.

A silver-plated wine cooler can be positioned on a bar cart, sideboard, or kitchen island as a functional serving piece or decorative container. It can also serve as a table centerpiece when repurposed to hold floral arrangements or ice.

Clean silver plate using a soft cloth and a specialized non-abrasive silver polish to clear tarnishing without stripping the thin silver layer. Wash with warm water and mild liquid detergent, then dry immediately with a microfiber towel to avoid water spots and oxidisation.
