Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the nineteenth century, small occasional tables such as lamp and wine tables became essential features in British domestic interiors. Designed to be easily moved, they were placed near seating areas to hold lamps, tea sets, or books.

These tables were typically crafted from solid mahogany or mahogany veneers, prized for their strength and deep colour. The central support column was turned on a lathe, while the tripod legs were shaped and hand-fitted into the base.

Authentic period pieces display evidence of hand-carving and hand-planing, irregular undersides, and traditional joinery techniques such as dovetailed tripod leg joints. The mahogany will also exhibit natural patination and slight colour variations from age.

Position the table beside a sofa or accent chair to function as a side table for drinks or a decorative lamp. Its dark wood tones contrast well against neutral walls, contemporary upholstery, and light timber flooring.

Clean the surface regularly with a dry microfibre cloth to prevent dust accumulation. Apply a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year to nourish the wood and maintain its luster, avoiding placement near direct heat sources or radiators.
