Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pre-Raphaelite stained glass, prominent in the mid-to-late 19th century, emphasizes medievalist storytelling, romantic figurative subjects, and detailed botanical motifs. Pioneered by artists such as Edward Burne-Jones and William Morris, the style prioritized rich colour palettes, naturalistic foliage, and expressive human figures over simplified decorative patterns.

Victorian stained glass was crafted using mouth-blown pot metal glass coloured with metallic oxides, alongside flashed glass and silver stain for fine painted details. Individual glass sections were held together using H-shaped lead cames, soldered at the joints, and sealed with waterproof lead glazing putty within a timber or iron frame.

Authentic 19th-century stained glass displays slight irregularities in thickness, small air bubbles (seeds), and subtle surface texture indicative of period hand-blown glass. Original lead cames show natural patination and oxidisation, while hand-painted details, such as facial features and shading, feature kiln-fired vitreous enamel paint.

A standalone stained glass panel can be suspended within a window aperture to catch natural light, mounted in a timber frame as backlit wall art, or integrated into custom interior room dividers and doors to introduce colour and light diffusion.

Clean antique stained glass gently using soft, dry microfiber cloths or distilled water applied lightly with cotton swabs. Avoid harsh chemical sprays, abrasive materials, or ammonia-based cleaners that can erode vitreous paints, degrade lead cames, or weaken historic glazing putty.
