Vintage Gucci, Italy - Solid 800 Silver Box C.1968

Description

A truly striking and very rare box by the iconic designer, Gucci, Italy. What makes this one so very special is that is made from solid 800/100 silver rather than the usual silver plate; this is the first solid silver example I have come across.

The top is beautifully decorated with silver and gold vermeil detailing leading to the famous double G logo.

The front incorporates a thumb lift; just above this the first of two oval "800" stamp can be found; the other is to the rear together with the signature "Gucci Italy".

The interior is beautifully lined in a lacquered wood, in beautiful condition.

A highly collectable heirloom dating to the 1960's, c.1968. 7" x 4 1/2" x 1 1/2" and weighing (including lining) 630 Grams / 20.25 Troy Ounces.
