Description

A good quality Victorian specimen cabinet with 8 drawers and a glazed door. The cabinet itself is made from pine with its original stained finish. It stands on a plinth base and each drawer has turned wooden knobs. It is a good quality piece and it comes with its original working key.

The cabinet would have originally been used for a collection of butterflies and insects and each drawer has a cork lining on the base to enable pins to be gently pushed through. We have cleaned up the drawers and put a loose thick paper lining over the cork.

It is in good original condition and is certainly a very usable item. There are signs of age and use and it has picked up a few knocks, scuffs and marks over the years, particularly on the top surface, but nothing untoward and it has a good aged patina. The drawers all open and close smoothly and the cabinet displays very nicely.
