Description

William IV large rosewood tea caddy. Sarcophagus form with a domed hinged lid and four squat bun feet. The caddy has three compartments, two for tea and one for the large glass mixing bowl; the tea compartments have their original covers. The interior of the lid is lined with plum purple velvet.

Wonderful swirly grain to the wood and lovely rich patina. Very beautiful and decorative box.

Mad in England, c. 1830’s.

Very good antique condition. Surface cracks appropriate to age and use; chips to veneer above two feet; cracks to base; chips to veneer at the back; wear inside appropriate to age; small chips to veneer along the interior rim of the lid; lock mechanism replaced; the key operates the lock mechanism, but the latch part in the lid does not match the lock.
