Mid-19th Century Brass-bound Mahogany Fitted Jewellery Box

Description

A good mid-19th century brass-bound mahogany Jewellery Box. This example has two lift-out storage trays with a further section below. The outer surfaces are bound with brass straps around each corner and across the lid. The centre of the lid has a brass cartouche with stylised initials. Internally each tray and the inside of the lid are lined in blue velvet.

The upper tray has six central compartments surrounded by an open space. The second tray has three sections and the lower section is open. Bramah lock with two working keys.

Dated: c.1830-50

Dimensions: Height: 11.5cm. Width: 33.5 cm. Depth: 21 cm.
