Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 19th Century.

The case is 7inch wide, 7 inch deep and stands 7.5 inch tall.
The face of the clock measures 4.5 inch in diameter. It is inscribed with Roman numerals, the makers name, address and has two subsidiary dials. one for seconds, the other ‘time up/down’ indicator dials.
Gold hands and screw-tight dial-glass all original. Unscrewing the bezel to the dial allows for the hands to be adjusted before use.

The 54-hour fusee movement has an Earnshaw spring-detent escapement, spotted plates and a free-sprung compensation balance. For further interest, there is a label inside the lid section that indicates the clock was cleaned and by assumption still in use in September 1934.

The top of the box opens with a push button to view the clock under glass. The box further opens midway to access the clock itself, the winding key and gimbol suspension bracket. The small piece of glass in the upper viewing section of the box is unusually complete and undamaged.
Brass handles, hinges, winding key, name plate on front of case are all original.
