Mid-size silver wrist watch, 1928.

The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel hand-winding movement, probably by the ebauche (blank movement) manufacturer A Schild, which is working nicely.

The watch measures 30mm wide excluding the winding crown and 30mm high excluding the fixed lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London 1928 with a sponsor’s mark for George Stockwell.

From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The case is in good condition for such an early piece, just some fairly gentle unevenness to the back of the watch.

The lens is in lovely condition.

The dial looks good to the naked eye. There is a short faint hairline on number 4 if viewed very closely. Originally the hands and numbers would have had painted detail but this has been removed over the years, probably because of any radium content.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
