Description

This beautiful hand made Arts and Crafts necklace comprises a solid silver chain of long twisted links interspersed with deep honey-coloured amber beads. The silver has a lovely patina and each bead is unique in shape and size.

The Arts & Crafts movement (c.1880-1910 in England) championed hand made pieces with an emphasis on craftsmanship and the aesthetics of design to create beauty rather than intrinsically valuable materials such as diamonds. Natural baroque pearls, silver and uncut stones were considered preferable to precious gemstones.

The necklace is in very good antique condition and fixes with a small hook clasp.

Length: Approximately 19 inches (approximately 48cm).

Size: The beads are approx 8mm diameter on average.
