Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A chamberstick is a low, portable candleholder fitted with a side handle and a wide tray to catch wax drips. Popular during the 18th and 19th centuries, it was specifically designed to carry burning candles up unlit staircases into bedrooms at night.

Victorian chambersticks were predominantly cast in brass, bronze, copper, or silver plate. Cast bronze and brass allowed intricate decorative relief patterns, such as acanthus leaves and rococo scrolls, to be integrated directly into the tray and socket.

Authentic 19th-century chambersticks display natural age-related patina, slight asymmetry from sand-casting processes, and surface wear on the base. Look for hand-finished chasing details, visible assembly threads underneath, and appropriate weight for solid cast metal.

Position a bronze chamberstick on a stack of art books on a bedside table, console, or mantelpiece to add sculptural interest and warm metallic tone. It can be displayed alongside contemporary ceramics or glass to create an eclectic visual contrast.

Dust regularly with a soft, dry cloth and avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that strip historic patina. To remove wax deposits, warm the metal gently with a hairdryer and wipe away softened residue using a tissue.
