Antique Victorian Diamond & Pearl Star Necklace with Red Rock Crystal Cabochon 15ct Gold - C.1880

We are delighted to offer this striking antique Victorian red rock crystal cabochon pendant necklace made with 15ct solid gold in the Victorian era, c.1880. (Please note the photographed box is solely for display purposes only. Unfortunately, it does not close with this pendant and as such we will supply a different modern box).

Eye-catching and unlike any contemporary piece, this pendant necklace is captivating at first glance and is unapologetically Victorian in style and elegance. This pendant features a rock crystal cabochon (backed with red lining) that has a wonderful saturated and almost 'strawberry candy-like' hue.

The cabochon is embellished with a gold star with a central seed pearl and five old rose-cut diamonds surrounding it. This celestial theme and look are completed with further seed pearl decorations on the border and overall capture the mystical nature of divinity/space in an enchanting design.

The reverse side of the pendant also features a finely hand-engraved lid that reveals a locket behind. The intricate craftsmanship and skill in making such a delicate yet ornate design are exemplary and marvellous in this piece.

The finely applied gold, rope-twist border and stippled effects are all a testament to the craftsmanship of a bygone era.

Ready to wear out of the box: This pendant comes with the gold/yellow rope twist string lace as shown in the photographs. This colour pairs very well and complements the rope-twist border of the pendant.

Condition: Great antique condition with no major issues/damage. Some very minor surface scratches to the rear of the locket and wear commensurate with age.
