Youngs Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The chairs have open backs - almost in the form of a cartouche with an upholstered oval pad in the centre held in place by four small carvings which protrude from the delicate outer frame and are finely moulded in walnut with a secondary inner gilded moulding and a veneered centre in Amboyna.
The front legs are turned with a parcel gilt fluted decoration upon brass castors, the legs are joined into the frame above with a dual panel of rosettes above each front leg with rails that mimic the same design as the back.
Overall the chairs are in excellent condition, with only a few age related chips and marks.
