A wonderful Howard & Sons button back armchair, C.1870.
 
 
This original Howard & Sons armchair is raised on turned mahogany forelegs and splayed rear legs, complete with original paper label, cope brass castors and stamped to the rear leg.
 
 
Expertly and traditionally upholstered in a blue Howard & Sons monogrammed cotton fabric, the exact specification of the original found on the chair, which is still intact and in use as an underlay.
 
 
Finished with gathered pleats and Howard & Sons trim, structurally very good.
