Japanese Bronze Meiji Period Elephant Okimono On Stand

A splendid Japanese Meiji period (1868-1912) Tokyo school bronze okimono of a jovial looking elephant in mid stride the pachyderm is depicted with trunk raised and is finished with patinated bronze tusks, ears, and trunk. This fine quality bronze okimono is artist signed on the foot and stands on its original carved hardwood base, it is in excellent condition and measures 14 ½ inches in length.
