A very rare Baroque wooden carved sculpture by the Brazilian sculptor Antōnio Francisco Lisboa, known as “Aleijadinho” (1738-1814)

The streaked hair and split topknots on the forehead with an inverted comma, Chinese-style eyes, long and sharp nose. Drapery similar in several parts to that of the Apostles of the Holy Supper of Congonhas-MG. Conical collar, folded cuffs, ''U'' and ''V'' folds at right knee, feet at right angles.
Antōnio Francisco Lisboa, was a sculptor, carver and architect of Colonial Brazil, noted for his works on and in various churches of Brazil. With a style related to Baroque and Rococo, Aleijadinho is considered almost by consensus as the greatest exponent of colonial art in Brazil by Brazilian critics and, surpassing Brazilian borders, for some foreign scholars he is the greatest name of Baroque in the Americas.
