Mobach Utrecht Secessionist/art Deco Vase Blue C1915

Mobach Utrecht Art Deco Vase Blue, about 1915–1920, possibly decorated by Klaas II (1893–1976), son of the factory founder Klaas Jan Mobach (1855–1928), This vase is, in fact, 18.9cm tall. Klaas II studied at the Kunstnijverheidsschool Quellinus (Amsterdam) from 1910–1911 and at the Kunstnijverheidsschool Utrecht. Whether potted by Dad or the son, this is a stunning example. Certainly one of the earlier offerings, as it is not company-marked, just XXL to the base. Exquisite shape with three curved handles, impressed and decorated with three medallions on the upper body, and delightful detailing on the underrim. Blue matte glaze with green undertones, a wonderful and rare example offered in fabulous condition.
