This evocative theatrical watercolour by K S Baker shows a scene, or set design, from the celebrated 1925 production of ''Lionel and Clarissa'' by Charles Dibdin at the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith. It starred Olive Groves as Clarissa and WIlfred Temple as Lionel. The painting was sourced from a private collection and appears to be in good condition - the pigments are still vivid and the surface has no major signs of atmospheric damage. However, as you can see from the images we are offering this charming painting in its original frame, mount, and backing, which all look undisturbed since the time of the production. I think a little more research will prove fruitful regarding the background of this interesting artwork. The measurements below are for the image size. The overall measurements of the frame are 43 cm high x 32 cm wide.
