Here is an exquisite little leather cased picture frame - the photograph inside is an Ambrotype - a form of early photography that created an image on glass, and was in use from around 1850. The colours and bright gold, really give this frame a real jewel-like quality.
This striking picture is set within a gold coloured frame, which fits snugly inside the leather case, and has a closing hinge so that the picture can safely be carried around with you, and then set up wherever you are - meaning you would never be far from your loved one.
This particular image is of a young woman who gazes wistfully out to the viewer, her dark hair immaculately parted in the middle, sat in her best dress next to an arranged backdrop of books.we can only imagine her story, but whoever has carried this picture around has really treasured it as the photograph, and case are in beautiful antique condition.
Inside the picture are three pieces of glass - the two which create the image of the lady, and a third clear glass which means that you could add your own photograph here. For the purposes of display, I have put coloured tissue in here, so that you can see the two ways you could have it.
The sides of the gilded frame are tooled with a beautiful foliate pattern, and have profusely decorated side scrolls. This would make a fantastic present for someone special - or even more perfect - for yourself!
The case measures 9.5cm by 9cm, and the oval inside is 8cm and 6cm should you wish to add your own photograph.
