Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1870s.
When putting these together, one important point I will mention, the pin at the top fits only one way, I believe from the left, it won't work the other way .. other than that, it is a breeze to assemble.
The set comes complete with some apothecary weights as seen in the photographs. The two brass pans when resting sit on the top of the Mahogany base and when needed the lever in the centre is pushed down to allow the scales to do their job.
Dating to the mid Victorian era, a wonderful showy piece as a medical related gift .. not too large, it would be perfect on a desk. Excellent condition, standing a total of 12 3/4" tall; the base measuring 8 3/4" x 4 5/8".
