Antique Georgian Oak & Maho0gany Bureau Desk C1780

18th century
Description

Lovely antique george 111 oak bureau and dating from aorund 1780. It has a moulded edge with mahogany banding to the fall front which opens to reveal a very nice mahogany interior with a central small door of satinwood and mahogany and flanked on either side by bookend panels of satinwood which are in fact secret compartments. There are four pigeon holes above a long double fronted drawer and with a flight of three drawers to each side. It has a green baise writing surface.

The fall front has a brass escutcheon and working key above two short drawers over three graduating drawers all of which are pine lined with brass handles and ivory key escutcheons.

It is moulded to the base and stands on bracket feet.

Measures:44" high X knee height 33" X 20" deep X 47" wide.

In very good condition with a lovely deep colour and patination to the oak oozing the charm and character of the georgian period.
