Description

An impressive inlaid mantel clock by Berger of Paris. A smaller proportioned brass and red tortoishell boulle case. Inlaid front and sides to the case. Gilt case mounts in the rococo style. An enamel dial with blue Roman numerals and ornate gilt brass hands. A well cast gilt dial bezel surround and convex bevelled glass. A glass front panel showing the original decorative sunburst gilt pendulum. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the 1/2 hours and hours on a bell signed Japay Freres. Circa 1890.
