Gents 1950s Helvetia automatic wrist watch.

The watch has an in-house 838 33-jewel automatic movement which is working nicely. This movement has Incabloc shockproofing but unusually, it has it in three places rather than just the usual individual fitting on the balance. The movement is fully signed with the Helvetia name. There are two empty retaining screw holes within the movement but, in this instance, the screws are not required as the movement is designed to be held in position by the retaining ring.

Many Helvetia watches of this period, such as this one, are a little unusual in that they are wound anti-clockwise.

The watch measures 33.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The main body of the case is gold plated while the screw-on case back is stainless steel. The front of the watch is in good condition. If you turn the watch over, there is wear either side of the winding crown.

The case back states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, it should be kept away from water and moisture.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in its original finish with original hands, second sweep and inner minute markers. There is light marking across the dial and a shade or two of discolouration.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
