1930s Buren Half Hunter Pocket Watch

1930s Buren half hunter pocket watch.

The watch has a Swiss 15-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement has been identified as by Buren. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold plated Star model from the Dennison Watch Case Company, a Birmingham based case maker and supplier to various watch makers. The case is in lovely condition. The front cover has a small central lens surrounded by enamel filled Roman numerals.

The winding crown pushes in to open the front cover. Inside, there is an acrylic lens which is in good condition. There are a couple of short cracks between 10 and 11 although not too noticeable to the naked eye. The dial is signed with the name of the original retailer, Parsons of Bristol. The shop closed in 2014 after 300 years of trading, with at least ten generations of the same family running the business.
