Antique English Sterling Silver Visiting Card Case - Edwardian.

Description

A really superb quality card case in the form of an envelope beautifully engraved all over with a shield-shaped cartouche to the front.

The catch works perfectly and the top-notch hinge is again in superb order. Once opened the interior retains is luxuriously gilded finish. It is here that the hallmark can be found for Birmingham 1905, making this a true Edwardian example. The makers initials A & L Ld. is also present for the silversmith, Adie & Lovekin.

Too small for modern day business cards unless you could get them trimmed to size, but a real collector's joy. Excellent condition, measuring 3" x 1 5/8" and weighing 1.04 troy ounces or 32.5 grams.
