Possibly french it makes US laugh everytime we look at him/her as it appears to have a superb moustache!!

During the early 19th century, British and European potteries produced unglazed bisque and earthenware dog figures, with poodles being particularly favoured. These figures often commemorated popular continental dog breeds and were produced as decorative mantelpiece ornaments.
