Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

During the early 19th century, British and European potteries produced unglazed bisque and earthenware dog figures, with poodles being particularly favoured. These figures often commemorated popular continental dog breeds and were produced as decorative mantelpiece ornaments.

Potters pushed moist clay through fine mesh sieves or garlic-press style tools to create thin strands of clay. These strands were manually applied to the leather-hard ceramic body before firing to simulate the clipped fleece or coat of a poodle.

Authentic period pieces display unglazed bisque or soft-paste earthenware bodies with slight fire cracks, manual clay application, and moderate wear to the unglazed base. Later reproductions often feature smoother moulds or uniform synthetic glazes.

Small ceramic sculptures can be integrated into bookshelves, placed atop stacks of art books on a console table, or styled alongside framed prints on a fireplace mantelpiece to provide texture and historical contrast.

Bisque porcelain should be dusted with a soft dry brush to prevent dirt from settling into textured surfaces. Avoid immersing unglazed ceramic in water or using harsh detergent, as porous porcelain can absorb liquids and discolour over time.
