Hingstons of Wilton has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
This Antique teak campaign chest was made circa 1870.
The top section has the pair of drawers along the top and the deeper full width drawer below.
The bottom section has a pair of full width graduated drawers.

The drawers are fitted with the original inset flush brass handles, and the corners have brass straps to protect the chest from damage as it was lifted to its many stations and camps the officer was posted to.

It stands on turned bun feet.
Campaign chests were usually made of teak as teak is resistant to water.

The chest is made in 2 sections to allow for ease of transportation, where they would be packed into their individual cases and then put aboard a sailing ship for the voyage overseas.
It is always fascinating wondering where and what a military chest would have experienced, imagine the discussions you may have with family and friends as they admire your choice.
