Not a poster but an original painting! This large varnished gouache on paper was painted by woman artist Josette Faivre in circa 1955, as a project for a poster to announce a ball at a pilote''s club on the French national holiday, the 14th of July.
Multi-talented Josette Faivre was a fabric, furniture and graphic designer as well as an artist.. She worked with her husband Max Garnault - the two ran an interior design agency - which means that perhaps she received less credit for her work than if she had been working alone.
Josette''s artistic production is striking: streamlined, dynamic colourful and modern. This stunning work is an excellent example of her work.
Measuring 81 x 60 cm, the gouache is presented in a painted oak frame. The overall framed size is 85.5 x 64.5 cm
