Description

Gents antique Waltham Special wrist watch.

The watch has a 12-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely. This is a high grade movement with screw-set jewels in gold settings, Breguet hairspring and beautifully patterned plates. The movement is fully signed and it has the serial number 9,059,108 which dates it back to 1899.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is the gold filled Moon model from the Dennison Watch Case Company, supplier of cases to Waltham UK. The case is in beautiful condition, as is the later acrylic lens.

The signed dial is in lovely condition, and the red minute numbers are a handsome feature.

The manufacture date of the movement is very early for a wrist watch so we suspect that the movement, which would have been in a fob watch, was re-cased in the early 1900s to make it a more modern wrist watch.

A later vintage strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.
