Antique camphorwood campaign chest

This Antique camphorwood campaign chest was made circa 1840.

This example most likely would have been made for a naval officer to use in the East.

Camphorwood was the timber chosen as insects and moths avoid this timber and so any uniforms etc would not be eaten.

The body is strengthened by the brass strap corners, this was to protect it when it was being loaded and unloaded on ships and onshore duties/postings.

It has a double lock (with original keys)

The colour of the timber is exceptional and also has a beautiful patina that you can’t resist running your hands along.

Imagine this in your home and how it could be used as a centrepiece to your room as a coffee table. It also will provide great storage if you want to put it at the end of a bed, an alcove, or a bay window. It is so versatile that you always be pleased you made the right decision to own this piece of history.
