Description

A beautiful and rare early victorian collectors cabinet in finely figured honduras mahogany with pillared shelf and original brass gallery.

This is a rare and beautiful cabinet of excellent proportions. Made circa 1860 this style of furniture represents the transition from georgian design to vistorian, possibly the best period.

20 deep drawers, easily capable of accommodating continental length pins, this cabinet was originally designed for the display and protection of a collection of british lepidoptera but will serve a multitude of collecting purposes.

The cabinet has a shelf supported with mahogany pillars set in brass column tops and bases. Original lock and key and all in excellent condition.

All the drawers have closely fitting glazed frame tops and are base lined with a layer of cork with acid free white cartridge paper. The drawers run smoothly on bearer runners.

A superb cabinet for many collecting purposes.
