ANTIQUE #SA1041938

Scratch Built Martini-henry Dummy Rifle

Status: This item has been sold
Sold by: Chairman Antiques

From the collection of a Doctor. A wooden and metal example of a breech-loading single-shot Martini Henry rifle with a lever action (fixed in position). It is a copy of those used by the British Army that first entered service in 1871. The rifle has simulated grain to the stock, painted housing and great patination to the metalwork. There is a later webbing strap fitted which certainly doesn’t detract from the appearance. It is most likely a theatrical prop and it makes a very nice wall piece.
