A superb late 19thc brass and fruitwood ''misers'' snuff box....so named , because you can determine how much snuff you give to your friend or colleague, by closing up the holes,....to one being open,.... a small pinch of snuff .... to two holes open....a generous pinch, if you really liked the recipient. This fine box is engraved with the owners name .... H. Harris and where he came from..Dartford....and the date...1880...I have not been lucky enough to have that before on a ''misers'' snuff box....in excellent condition. English.
