Two old paper labels on the inner faces of the upper section doors – one of which states that it was removed from Penley Hall Flintshire in the Fields in 1796 and another states that the cupboard is ‘from Penley Hall, with our grandmother when she left home in 1796. Mr Parry the auctioneer tells us that he sold a similar cabinet from Mrs Dymock of Penley Hall a few years ago to the Duke of Westminster?’ (Edward Dymock of Penley Hall was High Sheriff of Flintshire in 1842). This cupboard probably formed part of the grandmother’s dowry.
Of superb colour and patination and in exceptional and rarely found original condition.
The dimensions are 62 inches high, 25 inches deep (max) and 63 inches wide (max at cornice). Height above and below inner shelf – 15 inches above, 17 inches below.
