No 4 Boulle Ebonised Victorian Drop Dial Striking Wall Clock

Description

Why No 4? - The reverse of the dial is enscribed with No 4. Was this the 4th Dial that this workman made or the 4th clock he made or is it because the Movement is also marked 4? If the latter, then the 4 on the dial indicates the case/movement that the dial goes with.

The case is Ebonised with Boulle Inlay of Brass and Pewter. The Enamelled Dial is framed by an Octaginal surround. Height 22in or 56cm.

The Eight Day Two Train Stiking Movement by W&H (Winterhalder and Hoffmeier - one of the Very Best German Clockmakers) has been Checked, Serviced, Tested and is Offered in Good & Full Antique Working Order.

Overall this would have been owned by a well to do family or in a professional managers office and not a humdrum working environment or school.
