Art Deco 2.75 Carat Ceylon Sapphire & Diamond Ring, Circa 1930

1920 - 1940
Description

A lovely and unusual Ceylon sapphire ring. The natural and unheated sapphire displays a slight colour change – blue in daylight, purple under incandescent light – and is secured in a four claw collet which is flanked by bold, pavé-set shoulders. A total of 12 (six each side) old mine cut diamond are set in the wide, statement shoulders and lead to a slim platinum shank.

Accompanied by a sapphire report from The Gem & Pearl Laboratory stating the sapphire shows no indication of heating, and is Sri Lankan (Ceylon) in origin.

Cut – Emerald cut sapphire and old cut diamonds.

Colour – The sapphire is blue in daylight and purple under incandescent light. The diamonds are F to G.

Clarity – The sapphire is eye clean. The diamonds are VS1 to VS2.

Carat – The sapphire is 2.75 carat. The total approximate diamond weight is 0.80 carat.

Circa – 1930.

Size – Q (UK) or 8 (US). Complimentary sizing is available, can go up or down.

Measurements – The sapphire is 8.5 x 6.4mm. Sits 6.4mm from the finger.

Metal – Platinum. French hallmarks.
