ANTIQUE NUMBER SA1039435: Antique Victorian Paste Cross Pendant 18ct Gold

Antique Victorian Paste Cross Pendant 18ct Gold

£1,250    $1,607    €1,443
A pretty antique Victorian cross pendant from the late 1800s consisting of seven sparkling cushion cut glass pastes that have been expertly cut to emulate large 1.8ct diamonds. Each is held securely in an 18ct gold claw setting with gold beads on the end of each crossbar.

Paste is a heavy, transparent flint glass that has been used since ancient times to simulate the beauty of gemstones. The art of cutting paste takes expert craftsmanship and the highest quality stones are often able to replicate the cut, colour and sparkle of natural gems to near perfection.

The piece has remained in pristine condition and would look beautiful swinging from the end of a gold chain.
